歴史的注記

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "An interesting company in the area is Marine Express, run by the Esch family as I understand it. They're the kind of company that keeps their gear in good shape, but they've always used vessels you'd say weren't "Modern" and made a success of it.

They were the last company in the Bay Area to operate a wartime DPC tug (the SOUTHERN CROSS, ex DPC 4) and have GWENDOLIN GRACE, what I believe is the only "Lugger tug" operating on the West Coast. One of their earliest vessels and still a busy workhorse is the crewboat AILINE ELIZABETH (526087), a classic built by Breaux's Bay Craft in 1970. Although the Breaux traits are evident, this vesselhas a bloated appearance that was abandoned very soon after this one was built. Crewboats in general also got away from this "cuddy cabin" look, moving the wheelhouse forward and having a larger passenger compartment aft. "
