The first of the class, JOHN LEWIS (T-AO 205) has been delivered although I haven't heard of an older oiler being taken out of service yet." George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 13/03/2024) states "George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 13/03/2024) states "The fourth of the Navy's new class of oilers was launched by GD-Nassco last October, the ROBERT F KENNEDY (T-AO 208). Seeing her from the side, I noticed that her stack seemed taller than on the previous three units, and she didn't have those distracting stovepipes and support structure above the stack. On closer look, however, I realized it's quite a different design, with at least one fewer decks in the superstructure as well. "
