Histoire

Notes historiques
George Schneider stated "our eyes were caught by the vacant "pier" at the San Diego Maritime Museum. The vacancy was left last month when the old USSR submarine (B-29, COBRA etc) was towed to Ensenada for scrap. The pier that remains is actually a historical vessel as well. She's the former San Francisco CAR FLOAT No. 7. Although usually significant in size, carfloat barges generally weren't documented, since they served only their owners. This makes them particularly hard to trace. This one was built in 1929 by Moore Drydock Co. of Oakland CA as their hull #177, and was never documented. As you see, this vesselserves the Museum both as a pier and as their wooden boat shop."
