Notes historiques

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "One that has a regular route taking people under the Golden Gate Bridge is HARBOR PRINCESS (278851), one of a series of passenger boats built by Colberg Boat Works in Stockton for Crowley's various passenger enterprises. This one was a 65-footer that came out in 1959 but was later lengthened by 20 feet. Crowley (Red Stack tugs) suddenly divested of their passenger businesses in 1997. Private operators bought the various vessels, this one remaining in Red and White, although the company adopted the name of a defunct company from the 1950's, the Golden Gate Scenic Steamship Corp. That earlier company really did operate steam ships. This new company, still commonly referred to as just the Red and White fleet, now operates diesel vessels, plus, as mentioned before, they have the first all-electric passenger boat in the area. " In February 2026 George Schneider writes: For an idea of how she looked as a 65-footer, see photo of near sister Harbor King (II).
