Story

This passenger vessel was built in 1958 by Colberg Boat Works in Stockton, CA.

Historical Notes

George Schneider Stated "a newcomer to Los Angeles was the tour boat HARBOR KING (276748) from San Francisco. This vessel was the earliest of the Colberg Boat Works designs for Red-and-White fleet that spawned half a dozen bigger vessels for them, all of which now, of course, have been dispersed. The last of their boats on the Catalina Island run are now operated by Catalina Classic Cruises, with “classic” meaning less speed than all the rest. This, however, is the smallest of theirs, and because she’s so tall, probably rides pretty poorly on that run, which is almost always beam to the swells. I heard her announcing herself on the radio as the CATALINA KING, but since that same company owns a 128-footer by that name, I expect that was just a mistake on the part of her operator and not a name they’re using for her."
