Story

This yacht, sail (junk-rigged) was built in 1981 by Jantzen, Siegfried & Marjorie Jantzen in Vancouver, BC.

Historical Notes

Nick Newell (Email to John MacFarlane 18/05/2020) stated "They built her in the late 1970s and launched sometime in 1980. This vessel was originally "junk rigged " but that wasn't very successful and they changed her to a conventional cutter some time in the mid 1980s. Still has the same Isuzu Diesel with a V drive This vessel is made of steel and the size is based on a Spencer 133." Tim Harvey (Email to Nauticapedia 19/06/2026) stated "I purchased Fan Tan in 2024, and still own her. Also, the email you quote attributes its design to the wrong name. It is a John Brandlmayr design. The plans are still on the boat, and I've discussed this with Siggy, the builder. Siggy and Marge have moved on to a more conventional white fiberglass motor vessel, which is easier for them to handle."
