Notes historiques
Note - This is a lean-crewed remotely operated vessel. George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 10/03/2024) stated "Strange foreign supply boats and their cousins seem frequent in San Diego. There's no single explanation; they might be just in transit, or staging for some operation (ROV diving, seabed work, etc). The Navy and other government agencies aren't above chartering foreign-built, foreign-flagged, foreign-crewed vessels either, when they can make the case that no American vessel with the right gear is available. Every time I see one of these I feel my job with Seaward and their second-hand vessels is being threatened. This is a Singapore-flagged vessel, ARMADA 78-07 (IMO 9924302) was delivered this year from the Vard Vung Tau Shipyard in Vietnam, so perhaps she's on her delivery voyage. Although classed as a supply boat, the delicate gear on deck isn't designed for abuse, so undoubtedly she's outfitted for some special purpose."
