Historische Notizen

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia) stated "Once underway, our eye was caught by a classic wooden yacht at the free anchorage off Harbor Island. Digital magic again took care of the distance, and she proved to have the name CONTENT. I couldn't find her under U.S. flag, then looked at the photo, and she's flying what looks like a British flag. It might be one of the territories, but I don't see a device on it. I did find a few hints on Wooden Boat, and a few (partly wrong) ones on Shipspotting, but I was able to put together her history from that.

She was built by Fellows & Stewart on Terminal Island in 1930 as CONTENT (229784).

She had that name up through 1941, when she was renamed TAKU. I can't find evidence of any military service for her, but if she was a "small boat," I'm unlikely to have a record of that.

In the 1950's she was briefly WILLIAM BOOTH for the Salvation Army, then went back to being TAKU."
