Notas históricas

George Schneider (July 2026) writes: Although classed as a YP indicating a patrol vessel, this vessel has been a training vessel all its life. This class was designed for seamanship training for Navy officer candidates. As a CT the intent was to train operators in the use of portable minesweeping gear, intended to be deployed on fiberglass shrimp boats and similar craft-of-opportunity. I see no evidence she was ever used in this capacity and was soon made available for donation. As MANATRA she trains youth in leadership and teamwork as well as seamanship. As of 2026 the vessel was looking rather neglected. Although she's the third MANATRA they've had, she doesn't wear the numeral "III" as part of her name, and shows her original Navy number on her bows.

Propietarios y capitanes

In 1972-1990 she was owned by the United States Navy.

In 1990-2026 she was owned by The Marine Navigation and Training Association Inc., Chicago IL USA.

Significado del nombre

CT stands for "Coop Trainer" or "Craft of Opportunity Trainer". MANATRA is short for her owner, the Marine Navigation and Training Asssociation.
