Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 01/12/2023) wrote "PEREGRINE (944854) is an example of what the East Coast calls a "party boat," used for charter sportfishing, whale watching, sightseeing, or other passenger purposes. Out here, we don't really use such a lumped term, and seem to more regularly just refer to them by their specific purpose. As delivered, by Lydia Yachts of Stuart, Florida in 1989, this was the party boat YANKEE SPIRIT, largely employed in whale watching cruises out of Gloucester, Massachusetts the first two decades of her career. According to her Coast Guard data, she's of wood construction, but appears to be fiberglass, so I'm not sure if that detail is a mistake, or if she's wood encased with fiberglass. Circa 2011, a couple in New Jersey looking to upgrade their private sportfishing horizons bought her, and had her sent to a boatyard in North Carolina to refit the accomodations to host groups of friends aboard. The boat was then renamed TRUE LOVE, which is said to be a representation of the owners' relationship, and their love of the fishing hobby. While there are plenty of news articles about that buyer's adventures with the boat, I couldn't find anything that suggested the reason this vessel was later sold.
In 2020 the boat came west, and as PEREGRINE, this vessel is now operated by the Tideline Group as the largest in a fleet of bird-named vessels available for charter as passenger ferries or event use in the Bay Area."
