Historical Notes

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 01/12/2023) wrote "The commercial pier also hid a unit of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife's fleet, the LONGFIN (CF2011XS). I couldn't find a whole lot about the boat itself, apart from a note that this vessel was built in 1983, measures at 42 feet, and is probably overdue for retirement. Oddly enough for a state agency, the majority of CDFW vessels I've encountered, usually from the enforcement fleet, are all documented. While LONGFIN is certainly of a size that this vessel could have been documented as well, but I'd guess the scientific side of the agency takes a different approach with their craft."
