Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 27/11/2023) states "AMERICAN CHALLENGER (569788, IMO 7420479) is a Gulf-built seagoing tug, completed in 1975 as MISS PATRICIA by Service Machine Co. of Amelia for F&S Offshore of neighboring Morgan City. This vessel was picked up by the growing Newpark Offshore in 1978 and renamed NEWPARK SUNDANCE, but as oilfield work began tapering off, Gulf Fleet Marine added her to their empire as GULF GALE. American workboats bought her in 2002. "
