Historical Notes

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 29/11/2022) stated "The GODDESS FANTASY (555759) was built by Gulf Craft in 1974 as hull 187, and while clearly built to crewboat lines, this vessel was completed the sportfisher CAPT APPLEGATE, which worked out of Atlantic City for a number of years. This vessel remained on the eastern seaboard under the names FRIENDSHIP III, MOHAWK EXPLORER and NIGHTHAWK until this vessel came west in the 2000's, first as the PRINCESS MONTEREY. On an interesting sidenote, while tracing her history I found that the boat's original namesake, Captain Andy Applegate, was a major, early proponent for artificial reefs on the New Jersey coast, and Applejack Reef near Atlantic City is named after (presumably not because of) this vessel's running mate, the APPLEJACK."
