Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 29/11/2022) stated "The ELAINE (274453) is, to my knowledge, the last of the Skansie-built boats, delivered in 1957 as the FERN for a J.D. Goodro of Wrangell, Alaska. By the mid-seventies this vessel had made her way down to Monterey Bay as the FAIR WIND II, then the CHANCE.

In 1957 she was owned by J.D. Goodro, Wrangell TA USA.
In 2022-2023 she was owned by USA interests.
