Story

This fleet replenishment (john lewis class) was built in 2022 by General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 29/10/2022) stated " The biggest surprise was to see EARL WARREN (T-AO 207) being nestled against the pier by three tugs, with one more tug just departing. That many tugs aren't necessary for a normal shift, so I'm guessing she'd been launched an hour or two before. Unless I'm felony-incompetent at internet searches, I can't find any information on her launch date. Maybe they chose to keep it secret. This vessel did seem to be shivvering a bit from her first feel of the water. The tugs attending her in this picture are Crowley's TIOGA and SCOUT, and PTB's J M HIDALGO. Oddly, TIOGA (1021169) no longer has her red hull and red stacks. One might guess she's in the process of being sold, but you'll also note the Crowley logo is freshly marked on her, also with the blue highlights. Is the company we knew half a century ago only as "Red Stack" becoming Blue Stack?"
