Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 30/09/2022) stated "R M THORSTENSON (627433). She's one of the more recent processor conversions. This vessel was one of three cargo ships built under Maritime Administration Title XI guarantee in 1980 by the Equitable Shipyard. Delivered as ANTILLA, her owners quickly defaulted and this vessel was repossessed by the government. Sold again, this vessel became ISLAND MARIANA for Pacific service, then LIBERTY for Atlantic service, but was seized for carrying drugs.

In 1991 this vessel was purchased by Aleutian Seafoods, lengthened and converted into a processor named STELLAR SEA. This vessel received her present name in 2009. We were surprised to learn this vessel hadn't left her pier in several years. It was even more surprising to learn a month later she'd been sold overseas for scrap. "
