Historische Notizen

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "SEAWARD ENDEAVOR (983104) anchored off Everett, where the harbor is technically called Port Gardner. She's the former PACIFIC RESPONDER for MSRC, which I've relieved on for 20-some years, and stayed with after this vessel was sold. She'd come to Everett for her 5-year drydocking and associated surveys." George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "The ship I was working on during this period, and in fact, was working on just a week ago. Just today, the company announced that both boats I've been substituting on since 1995, the PACIFIC RESPONDER (983104) in Richmond and the CALIFORNIA RESPONDER (983102) in San Pedro, were officially out of service as of today.

They cited the expense of operations in California as their reason, but it goes much deeper than that, and now that the company is down to 12 of the 16 large vessels they built, I think we're on a slippery slope to dispense with that aspect of the company's work. I'm sure the two will quickly be sold; of the other two we sold, one is working as a dive support boat off Africa, the other is being converted into a pilot station for New York Harbor."
