Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 13/12/2021) stated "the former Long Beach, California fireboat LIBERTY, little unchanged from her California days. I've heard that LIBERTY and her sister CHALLENGER, built by Moss Point Marine in the mid-eighties, were considered to be somewhat lemony. With that in mind, I don't imagine this vesseloffers much in the way of potential for future service, but I'm sure we've said that about a lot of things that keep trucking. There's no evidence that this vesselhas gained documentation in any form, at least as far as I've seen."
