Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "a smartly-kept fishing boat, appropriately named GOLDEN GATE (553829). This is the kind of boat Californians call a Monterey, used by Italian fishermen here in the early 20th Century, based on traditional designs from Italy. Relatively few were ever documented; this one was built in San Francisco in 1928 and then for some reason documented about 1973. No two were identical, they were usually built by the owners, were about 30 feet long, and designed for a one-man crew. Many are still around today, although few in as pristine condition as this one."
