EM1002

George Schneider stated "The first day at work we were passed by Dutra Dredging's hard-working push boat PHYLLIS T (1109736). This vessel passes by frequently, but when I looked her up I found something new about her. This vessel was built by Inland Boat at Orange TX in 2001 for Tudor-Saliba Construction Co., who were compiling a fleet of dozens of vessels (new and used, boats and barges) to work on a reconstruction of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. Their vessels were purely "equipment" to them, and their names reflected that: EM1001 to EM1189, many of which weren't documented and often not even marked on the vessels. Of that 190 numbers, I only have ID's on about 60. Many of the vessels also grew names on them, and EM1002 got the name PHYLLIS T. When the work on the Bridge was completed, the fleet was sold, and Dutra picked up some of them, including PHYLLIS T. The name EM1002 was painted-over, but remained her official name for a decade until a few months before this picture, when it was officially changed to PHYLLIS T"
