Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 30/09/2022) stated "this vessel was built in 1929 at Bellingham for the Whatcom County ferry service, and at that time was a classic small double-ended ferry with a side wheelhouse. This vessel was made of wood, and only had the capacity of 6 cars. This vessel was replaced in 1962 by the much larger, steel vessel WHATCOM CHIEF, which in turn is now being replaced. This old vessel was rebuilt as a salmon tender."
