Notes historiques
Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 27/03/2022) reports that "CAPTAIN HOOK (1211846), offered a pleasant surprise as an ex-Navy small boat sighting. The number on the transom has been filled in, but according to her documentation she's a rebuild of 36PL6512, one of many of the type built by Miami Beach Yacht Corporation. While I'd spotted a handful of ex-Navy boats sprinkled through the troller basin, this was the first ex-military craft of the day I hadn't encountered before." George Schneider (Email 28/03/2022) stated "this vessel was assigned to the USS RACINE (LST 1191) as of my 1982 SABAR, but by my next one, 1988, she's off the list. RACINE wasn't decommissioned until 1993 (sunk as a target in 2018) so that tells me the boat was "surveyed" due to some costly repair it needed. By the fact this vessel didn't seem to show up in a surplus sale, and has an official number issued about 2009, I can only guess it was donated and the recipient organization kept her about 20 years then sold her. That's, of course, assuming the boat number on her documents is correct."
