George Schneider stated "the much speedier 40WB1008 came in. This vessel sports the bow number 32, and this was the first time I was able to clearly interpret her real number. This class is difficult; the raised lettering they use for the numbers is very thick, and the “sides” of the numbers are painted black as well, so the characters mostly look like just a blob of black unless seen perfectly straight-on. This is the class that they said they were building to replace the LCM-6’s, but they really have very little in common with their ancestors."
