Notes historiques

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 13/12/2021) stated "Just beyond her was Sause's "new" TITAN (572647), formerly the GUARDSMAN of Crowley's venerable, McDermott-built (hull 217) Invader-class. When Crowley lost their contracts for the Valdez oil terminals, the sudden surplus of vessels on the west coast meant that the remaining Invaders out here were laid-up and put up for sale, GUARDSMAN among them. Now, out of the 25 built, only about a half-dozen still seem to be active in Crowley's hands, all on the east coast to my knowledge. I believe this is Sause's third TITAN; the first was a former DPC tug, and the second was a 143' Army LT. At my last visit in 2017, the LT-version was still laid-up at Coos Bay, but has since disappeared. I'd have to do some Google Earth sleuthing to find more evidence, but assume this vessel was towed to either BC or Mexico to be broken up."
