Story

This fishboat, general was built in 1911.

Historical Notes

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 13/12/2021) stated "For a number of years the Port of Newport had supported a local family selling seafood from a restored wooden fishing vessel named the CHELSEA ROSE, built c.1911. A couple of years back I'd read that the fishmongers and the Port had agreed that the hull had reached the end of its useful life, and was due for replacement. With this visit, I found the solution, what appears to be some sort of pontoon hull supporting a deckhouse that mimics its predecessor. While I'm sad to see the old boat gone, I'm sure that the replacement is a win-win as a better venue for the merchants and less liability for the port. I didn't see any registration number, or find one in PSIX, but I imagine a stationary pontoon or whatnot doesn't need one."
