Story

This littoral combat ship was built in 2020 by General Dynamics Corp. in Mobile, AL.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "The USS MOBILE (LCS 26), is much newer, commissioned just 2 months before the photo, and had arrived in San Diego in June. Thirteen of this class are now in commission, with the same number of additional units planned. At one point the Navy announced that LCS 33 onward were instead to be frigates, but it appears the series is continuing as originally planned. In looking up the details, I see this class is 422 feet long, or about the length of a Liberty Ship. That's not a fair comparison; they complained about the Liberty Ships because they were slow.

They complain about these ships because they can't carry enough."
