This tug was built in 1966 by Western Boat Building Co., Tacoma WA.

Historische Notizen

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "the BITT, showing no license number and this vessel doesn't appear to be documented. This would make her the former Coast Guard tug BITT (CG 65613), built by Western Boat Co. of Tacoma in 1966.

In 1982 this vessel was transferred to the University of Washington and renamed CLIFFORD A BARNES (WN9191LB). This vessel was put up for auction around 2019, and I last saw her that year, still as the BARNES, at Vallejo CA."

Eigentümer & Kapitäne

In 1966-1982 she was owned by the United States Coast Guard.

In 1982 transferred to the National Science Foundation for use as the Research Vessel Clifford A. Barnes. After serving through an agreement with the University of Washington School of Oceanography research facilities in Seattle, Washington, the University of Washington decommissioned the vessel at the end of 2018.

In 2019 she was owned by USA interests.
