Historical Notes

Kyle Stubbs (Email to Nauticapedia 12/12/2021) states "After leaving Brookings, I started to hit the promised rain, though it seemed to be in a bit of an ebb and flow state. I stopped for lunch at Bandon, where it was pouring, but by the time I was in Coos Bay, I had another bit of a reprieve. With that opportunity, I decided to check in on Southern Oregon Marine, Sause's subsidiary shipyard on the Coos River to the east of town. I was fortunate enough to find Sause's CHINOOK (534202) going up in the yard's drydock. I'm not sure about the heritage of the drydock, but 2018 aerial imagery seems to show a floating drydock under either construction or modification at the yard."
