Story

This tug was built in 1988 by VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, MS.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "this vessel was built by Halter Marine in 1988 at their Lockport yard, specifically for use at the Chevron facility in Richmond CA.

They named her CHEVRON RICHMOND, a name this vessel carried until 2004 when Chevron divested of their tug fleet.. This vessel is still used as a docking tug at the Richmond terminal despite being simple twin-screw without Z-drives. Her appearance is somewhat traditional for tugs built that recently, accentuated by the unusual slope to the compartment behind her bridge. This reflects the design of tugs in Wilbur Smith's fleet, who after killing a crewman because the captain couldn't see the deck crew, designed all his tugs with sloped houses so the bridge had a perfect view of the fore and aft decks. "
