George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "Another East Coaster in the Bay Area has been the HORNBLOWER FREEDOM (637646). This very traditional and classy vessel started out life as NELSECO in 1981.
In 2013 this vessel was purchased by San Francisco's Red-and-White fleet as a good fit to supplement their fleet of ex-Crowley tour boats. This vessel became ZALOPHUS, and in 2019 I shared my only good underway photo of her as such. But Red-and-White took a bolder step by building the all-electric ENHYDRA and this one became superfluous. Hornblower bought her in 2020, and I've only seen her nested in their layup fleet. But one morning I saw her heading out, and shot this distance photo of her. It was good timing. This vessel headed out the Golden Gate, and is now in New York. At the time of this photo, this vesse already had Liberty Island on her stern as her home port, so Hornblower must have bought her for that run.
They certainly have no qualms about moving boats from coast to coast."
