Geschichte

This yacht, (expedition) was built in 1929 by Krupp MaK. Maschinebau G.mb.H. in Kiel.

Historische Notizen

Max Fleischman was known as the 'yeast king'. This vessel was a frequent visitor to Seattle WA USA before the Second World War. George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 13/03/2024) states "While some people want the newest and biggest, there's also a trend for owning classic yachts. One of those also made it to San Diego recently.

She was also built in Germany by Germania Werft in Kiel in 1929 as HAIDA (ON 228794) for Max Fleischman.

She entered the Navy in WWII as USS ARGUS (PY 14) and was loaned to the Coast and Geodedic Survey as PIONEER. After the War she was auctioned and has had a series of names and modifications that kept her antique look but aren't really true to her original appearance.

She is now under Cayman Island flag as HAIDA 1929 (333851 / IMO 8981652) and her owner shows as Copacati Ltd."
