Story
This tug was built in 2017 by Nichols Brothers Boatbuilders (Ice Flow LLC) in Freeland, WA.
Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 27/11/2023) states "I was delighted to get a good underway shot of MOUNT BAKER (1275585, IMO 9822906). I covered her and her sister MOUNT DRUM in my June report, but this vessel is a Jensen-designed ocean tug built for Kirby Offshore Marine Pacific, and as Kirby backed off their Pacific adventure, they went up for sale. Young Bros. bought them in 2022 and brought them to Hawaii without renaming them. She's rated at 5000 HP, not a monster, but when I began waterfronting, A 1000 hp single-screw tug was considered a cadillac."
