Story

This freighter was built in 1943 by Ingalls Shipbuilding Co. in Pascagoula, MS.

Historical Notes

On June 5, 1973 the Oriental Mariner (outbound from Vancouver to the Columbia River) and the Wayway (log carrier inbound for Tacoma) collided in heavy fog. Both took evasive action but took identical course changes. A large section of the Oriental Mariner's bow above and below the waterline was opened up. Both vessels reached Seattle under their own power.

In 1979 this vessel was broken up.
