Story

This passenger vessel (cruise ship) was built in 2008 by Aker Shipyard in St. Nazaire.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 18/02/2023) stated "The Port has built a fancy, automated and earth-friendly passenger ship terminal on that pier, but they prefer to use the crude old terminal they built inside a transit shed on the adjacent B-Street Pier, possibly because there's more space. But we learned the MSC POESIA (IMO 9387073) was coming in and needed the Broadway pier. When we got to our substitute berth at 10th Avenue, I was the one to monkey over to the pier to handle lines, and talked to the wharfinger. I found out that the terminal on B-Street, because its fitted with shore power, requires vessels to use it or pay a penalty. But Broadway, not so fitted, allows one-time visitors without shore connnections to stay on the ship's generators without penalty. I'd never seen POESIA before and thought this vessel was brand new, but I find this vessel was built 15 years ago and her name has just never registered with me in all that time. "
