Story

This tug was built in 1948 by David Boat Works & Machine Shop in Steveston, BC.

Historical Notes

Ron David and George Lauckner (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 22/02/2017) report that "some years ago this vessel was dry-berthed in Bill Day's yard in Port Hardy and has been deteriorating ever since." This vessel was used by Mr. Christopherson to tow scows of oyster shells from Crescent Beach to the Imperial Cannery and then empty shells to a shell crushing facility. The boats were largely used to tow scows loaded with oysters to the plant in Delta, and to position empty scows over the oyster beds. At low tide the empty scows would land near the beds to which the workers would walk and harvest the oysters. Full scows were then floated back to the plant.
