Story

This barge was built in 1956 by Asi Verken A/B in Amal.

Historical Notes

Kyle Stubbs (British Columbia Nautical History Facebook Group 28/10/2019) stated "I'm fairly sure this is the original bow section of a freighter that operated for many years out of Seattle as the Sunmar Sea/Coastal Sea. That vessel was built in 1956 by Asiverken of Amal, Sweden as the Homborsund, and was acquired by US owners in the mid-eighties and rebuilt, with an entirely new hold and bow. Canadian documentation seems to agree, showing the Inter Coast III (ON 802687) as built by Asiverken in 1956, and rebuilt in 1986, and the listed former name of "Half Cut" suggests this vessel was part of something else cut in two." Dirk Septer (Email to Nauticapedia 30/01/2019) states "the original stern lives on as Courageous, operating out of Louisiana USA."
