物語

This passenger vessel was built in 1902 by Union Iron Works Co. in San Francisco, CA.

歴史的注記

On the night of June 29, 1911, while under command of Captain J.W. Guptill, this vessel struck Ripple Rock in Seymour Narrows BC shortly before midnight. The fierce current caused her to swerve in the channel and this vessel hit on the starboard side tearing a huge hole in her double hull. This vessel was moved into Plumper Bay, but the pumps could not keep up with the inflow. This vessel had 160 passengers on board of who 100 jumped overboard.

They were rescued by the crew and brought back to the ship. Two passengers died in their stateroom: Mrs. J.E. Strauss, and Mrs. G.F. Williams. The pilot took a boat to intercept the Prince George at Grange Point.

They aided the stricken ship and hailed the Admiral Sampson. The steamer City of Seattle also gave assistance. All the passengers were offered berths on the City of Seattle, but none wished to continue their journey and were taken on board the Admiral Sampson for passage back to Seattle. The Spokane was refloated by the Salvor and escorted her back to Seattle WA USA.
