This tug was built in 1919 by Whitney Bros. Co. in Superior, WI.
歴史的注記
The Shipping board used her for salvage work in the North Sea, the Mediteranean, the Azores and Bermuda. Lastly this vessel was used for Atlantic towing. This vessel cost $300,000 to build. The Western Pacific Railway Co. used her for transporting rail car floats across San Francisco Bay between Oakland and San Francisco. On May 21, 1938 this big American tug, owned by Merrill & Ring Lumber Co., Port Angeles WA, went ashore near Chemainus BC Canada. This vessel was bringing a log boom of 36 sections of big logs from Port Angeles to Vancouver BC Canada. George Schneider stated that "While out of documentation between 1977 and 1980 this vessel bore the name WILLIAM STENDER."
