Historische Notizen

George Schneider (Shipspotting.com 14/11/2018) states "If indeed Westcoaster was one of the 45-foot STs completed in 1945 for the Army, this vessel would have to be ST 905, ST 906, ST 910, or ST 913. We believe we’ve identified ST 910 as becoming Driftwood. The other 7 are currently accounted for, or at least were evident elsewhere well past 2002." Norm Jones (Email to Nauticapedia 06/07/2022) states "I bought her from Ron Brackett, but owned her until December 2016 when I sold her to Craig Widston. I had the original registration for my tug. It originally had a French name (La something) I forget and in moving have misplaced that registration, however this vesselspent most her life in New Orleans. These tugs are built out of Core 10 steel. This steel is an alloy containing a lot of iron and copper and so after getting a rusty surface don't rust. The hulls stay in very good conditon." George Schneider (Sept 2026) Writes: If she indeed was built in 1946 and her hull is Corten Steel, then I don't believe she was a former Army ST. Burger went on to build steel boats of that size immediately after the end of WWII.
