Story

This tanker was built in 1923 by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. in San Francisco, CA.

Historical Notes

In 1973 this vessel was laid up when Standard Oil of British Columbia contracted with Seaspan International to transport cargoes by tug and barge. Bob Cormack (Email to Nauticapedia 10/01/2021) stated "The set up was 2 diesel engines driving a 600 HP electric motor. The ship was under powered for sure. The advantage of being diesel electric was in manoeuvring in docking and undocking. You could get full power from full ahead to full astern in about 5 seconds. The same system was on the CPR ships Princess Patricia and Marguerite.

They were twin screw, steam turbines driving 2 electric motors of approx 7500 HP each. "
