Histoire

This tug was built in 1906 by Dafoe, Victor M. in Vancouver, BC.

Notes historiques

On December 11, 1912 this tug, owned by the Vancouver Island Power Company and under command of Captain E. Fraser, was wrecked off Macauley Point (Esquimalt BC) and broken up by the heavy seas. In heavy seas and strong winds this vessel went ashore and was pounded by heavy seas. Her crew of five and six passengers got ashore safely through the surf. Her engines had broken down and there was no tug assistance availabke so this vessel drifted in the wind, striking the shore just past midnight. This vessel was enroute from Jordan River to Victoria at the time of the incident. This vessel was used to carry passengers and deliver barges of construction materials during the construction of the powerhouse, dam, flumes and other infrastructure needed for the BC Electric Company’s Jordan River hydroelectricity project.
