Story

This barge was built in 1982 by Kambara Marine Development & Shipbuilding Co. in Hiroshima.

Historical Notes

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (Washington DC USA) stated "The barge can be towed or pushed; when propelled by a pair of pusher boats she is able to navigate ice-bound waters. The hull, of double construction, satisfies the requirements of the Canadina Shipping Act for Arctic Class II vessels. A 140-ton travelling crane serves the working space on the main deck. A workshop, forward on the main deck, has a deck strong enough to permit the use of fork-lift trucks; the accommodation is above the workshop, and there is a helicopter deck above the accommodation."

Owners & Masters

In 1982-1984 she was owned by Arctic Transportation Ltd., Calgary AB Canada.
