This tug was built in 1969 by Mangone Shipbuilding Co. Inc. in Houston, TX.
Historical Notes
George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 07/12/2021) stated "SPARTAN (518285) and SATURN (518570), built in 1969 at the Mangone Shipyard in Houston TX. These two started their lives in Puget Sound for the Drummond Lighterage Co. and then progressed into the Crowley family who had them working up and down the West Coast until selling them to Brusco in 2015. They've always carried these same names."

In 1969 she was owned by Drummond Lighterage Co., Seattle WA USA.
In 2015-2022 she was owned by Brusco.
