Historical Notes

George Schneider (Email to Nauticapedia 06/06/2024) states "Preparing to assist an LSD was the familiar Navy-contract tug C-TRACTOR 7 (1023637). What was unfamiliar about her was that the two logos on her stack had been removed. This might have been just for painting, but might also suggest a re-branding like other tug companies have recently done. On her eyebrow you can also see a screaming green decal. This is her CARB registration number, a requirement by the California Air Resources Board to track her compliance with emission standards. Although not all local vessels comply with the current standards, this gives the CARB inspectors a way to spot vessels which are not registered in the program. Vessels that don't comply need to report their operating hours and "buy carbon credits" to compensate for their non-compliance. "

Owners & Masters
