Notes historiques
In 1970 this vessel was a United States Navy nuclear submarine that completed a submerged transit of the Northwest Passage under the command of Commander Alfred McLaren USN. This vessel made a full transit via the North Pole where this vessel surfaced. During the voyage this vessel retraced the route of the USS Nautilus. This vessel also undertook Siberian Shelf operations that presumably took her into Soviet Russian waters.
In 1985 under the command of CDR J. Harvey this vessel rendezvoued at the North Pole with USS Aspro.
In 1988 under the command of CDR Joslin USN this vessel completed a partial submerged transit via the North Pole exactly 30 years after the USS Nautilus passed under the North Pole.
In 1993 this vessel was broken up.
