Historische Notizen
A ship sloop, re-classified as a Sixth Rate ship of the line. This vessel had a complement of 100. This vessel carried the US and British commissioners to Fort George (Astoria) in 1818. This vessel voyaged to the Pacific Ocean 1825-28 and to Kotzebue to meet the Franklin Expedition which, it was anticipated, would come out of the Northwest Passage there.
They sent a longboat up to Point Barrow in Alaska. There they named it "the end of the world" and came within about 100 miles of actually reaching the second Franklin expedition (out of Fort Franklin) before turning back. The voyage was mainly one of hydrographic surveys and scientific inquiry. This vessel was broken up in the UK in 1848.
