Notas históricas
George Schneider (Oct 2026) reports: This barge is designed to attach to the stack of a ship in port which does not meet California's emission standards and which isn't fitted to shut down and operate off shore power. George Schneider (2022) stated "A company called Stax Engineering Inc. of Santa Barbara CA owns a barge named STAX 1 (ON 1252924) which was previously Pacific's PTS 2, and originally the Navy YON 288, built by BMT in Minnesota in 1983. That makes her fairly young among Navy yardcraft, but in order to look like a good citizen, the Navy is slowly purging all it's non-double-hull tank vessels and barges. The company reports that the vessel recovers engine emissions "STAX is the leading provider of systems to capture nearly 100% of PM, NOx, SOx, and most CO2, Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP), and VOC's from the diesel gensets and boilers of oceangoing vessels at berth. Eliminates expensive per-vessel retrofits. Any combination of mobile/fixed or land/water available."
