Story

This tug, anchor-handling was built in 1981 by Blount Marine in Warren, RI.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (Aug 2026) writes: This vessel was built with mortgage guarantees by the U. S. Department of Transportation. Oilfield work hit an economic shutdown that peaked about1985, and this vessel was forfeited and auctioned. Under U. S. law, a "rebuilt" vessel whose rebuild cost significantly exceeds its value can either be considered a rebuild or new construction. In this case, since the existing vessel had received a fishing license, it appears she was cut down to merely a coupon of the original vessel and a new Ulstein processor was built around that coupon in Norway, thus retaining her U. S. fishing rights. Note the extreme difference in dimensions.
