Story

This lighter (aka motorized barge) was built in 1932 by U.S. Navy Shipyard (New York NY) in Brooklyn, NY.

Historical Notes

George Schneider (August 2026) Writes: She appears to be a 120-foot prototype for the 132-foot "Covered Lighter" produced during WWII and later popular as surplus vessels in the fishing trade. It's interesting she appears to still have fishing rights in U. S. waters after being under foreign flag.
