Geschichte
This oilfield supply vessel was built in 1967 by Universal Iron Works in Houma, LA.
Historische Notizen
George Schneider (July 2026) writes: Originally she was an oilfield "Utility Boat," a category of vessel designed with a full-displacement hull to carry supplies to offshore rigs, but also allowed to carry "Passengers" (typically oilfield workers). With her passenger certification already in place, it was probably easy to get her classed for carrying passengers, although neither her deep displacement nor high horsepower made her a perfect fit in that role.

Namensbedeutung
"Summer of George" refers to the title of an episode of the comedy TV series Seinfeld. It's an odd name for an excursion boat, because in the episode, although the intention was to have a complete summer of indolence, it turned into a complete disaster.
